ABOUT US
Our Company's Mission
Our goals are threefold:
- to create items which people will enjoy wearing, feel beautiful in and benefit from by virtue of the healing power of gemstones and what those powers can help manifest in the wearer's life.
- to be a progressive, generous company to our employees and to our customers.
- to allow others to benefit from our work and success by our charitable works and the donations we make to reputable charities with every sale.
Artist's Statement
As a child, I always looked forward to visiting my grandmother in her tiny Brooklyn apartment -- not just for the warmth of her embrace and her sweet personality, but also for her overstuffed jewelry box and glorious roll-top secretary's desk -- both of which I spent endless hours playing with. I would don ALL of the jewelry at once and sit at the desk, playing office, pretending to run the show before I even knew what a "boss" or a "company" was.
I suppose I shouldn't be so surprised then about falling head over heels in love with jewelry design and being so inspired by it that now, over two decades past that little girl, I find myself all grown up but in much the same position -- covered in sparkling jewelry, running the show.
After a brief exploration of jewelry making during college, I didn't pick up a bead again until my early 30's, At that time I felt compelled to seek out a better way to live my life, to find a way to be able to do work that I loved. I knew I wanted to design what I then called "life accessories" -- various items for the home which would be designed to beautify the surroundings, inspire the spirit and soothe the soul. I planned to include jewelry but it was not then the focus of my business.
Then I went bead shopping for some supplies to make jewelry prototypes. Once I saw all of those glittering beauties, it was all over -- and my fledgling company, Lori Lewis Designs, became a jewelry design house.
My first jewelry collection, Genesis, debuted in Spring 2004 to the rave reviews of family and friends. My next collection launched our website, lorilewisdesigns.com in early 2005.
My design process is very playful and spontaneous and relies heavily on the goal of evoking emotion when looking at and wearing each particular piece. I love lots of color, movement and sparkle. My goal in designing is to help accentuate your natural beauty, delight your senses and help you manifest what you want in life with the help of the healing powers of gemstones.
As much as I love my work, it wouldn't mean nearly as much to me if I couldn't also use it to help others in need. With our Charitable Giving Program we have committed to giving as much as possible to our customers and to the global community, particularly those in desperately in need. Each purchase will not only come with a free gift, but a portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit a reputable charity which works to make meaningful, positive differences in the lives of others.
